Basic Obedience

No matter the age, personality, size, or breed - the stronger the foundation, the stronger the dog. We understand that this isn’t as easy as it sounds. Stress, environment, motivation, and drive, are all factors in success. Our goal is to provide the dog and dog/owner team with the knowledge, structure, and building blocks necessary to thrive in all canine focus areas.

Advanced Obedience

Dog training doesn’t happen overnight. Time, patience, knowledge and skill are required to teach and deliver off-leash obedience. Reserved for dogs and dog/owner teams who have mastered the basics and want to grow their skills, CTO’s advanced obedience program offers multiple areas for increased control and responsiveness. These include, but are not limited to increased real-world distractions and social scenarios, attention control, advanced recall, in-motion commands, hand signals, and advanced heeling. You don’t need to be interested in showing or competing with your dog to benefit from advanced obedience.

In-home Evaluations & Training

Dogs’ behavior changes for many reasons, including physical and mental stimulation levels, environmental comfort levels, and changes in routines. Coming to your home for evaluation and training allows Chris to assess the factors influencing the behavior, and make recommendations about family dynamics, schedules, and social interactions (children and other pets), complimenting the training plan. Give us a call, and we would love to discuss our in-home training packages!

Board & Train

Our most popular training program, Board & Train targets specific goals through an immersive and highly customized training plan. We offer multiple packages (2 - 6 weeks), where your dog will live with and train with Chris. During that time you will receive photos and video updates, and have access to Chris 24/7 through phone or text. Chris will come to your house to pick up your dog to understand the environmental factors, and further understand your goals. At the time of drop-off, Chris will ensure you understand the commands and behaviors that have been taught and how to implement them at home consistently. As always, we are available by phone, text or follow-on training to ensure your happiness.

Client Boarding

If you are already part of the CTO family, we offer several boarding options at our home. While with us, your dog will be lovingly cared for, and we will ensure that your dog’s training program is maintained.

Puppy Training

Congratulations on your puppy! We know that that exuberant ball of energy will eventually require a training solution. If you didn’t start training , don’t worry! The CTO team is here to help you get everything back on track. Give your puppy the building blocks for life long success and confidence. We use all positive techniques to teach potty training, crate training, foundation obedience, and proper socialization. We will also assist with setting up schedules, making environmental recommendations (in and out of your home), training techniques, consistency, and continued socialization.

Behavior Modification

Common problems addressed through behavior modification include:

  • nuisance barking

  • marking

  • digging

  • table surfing

  • chewing inappropriate objects

  • mouthing or nipping

  • jumping

  • dog aggression

  • chasing cars or bikes

While “bad” behaviors are self-rewarding in nature, dogs must understand and respect a value-based system that prioritizes rewards and implements consequences. Our proven and customized approach utilizes multiple tools and techniques to redirect behavior to the desired outcome by carefully altering the antecedent (factor leading to the behavior) and the consequence (what happens after the behavior).

Service Dog Certification

Not every dog can be a service dog. If you are considering a service dog certification, you should already have a strong bond with your dog. Your dog should have basic obedience training and show sufficient evidence of being neutral and stable both in and out of the home with the handler/owner. CTO’s Service Dog Certification Program concentrates on environmental soundness and obedience advancement for two weeks. We focus on the positive introduction of real-world scenarios and stresses, impulse control, and social neutrality. Phone consultation required prior to in-home/canine assessment.

Personal Protection Services

The decision to purchase or train a personal protection dog is SERIOUS. Many “professional” trainers and breed lovers claim to have protection dogs, but only the most qualified dogs should be considered for purchase or training in protection work. Chris is available on a consulting basis to evaluate client lifestyle, property, home environment, the temperament of a current dog, selecting and purchasing a trained dog, or training maintenance.
